Team, It's Go Time
August 17, 2020
Fall semester is here, and it’s go time!
Move-in for Housing & Residence Life starts tomorrow, followed shortly by Panhellenic Recruitment, PAACT, ADELANTE, FIND, New Student Convocation and dozens of programs through The Great Gator Welcome.
Over the last several months, you’ve spent countless hours tapping into your creativity to find ways to engage students through new parameters and guidelines. And soon, your hard work will be realized as we collectively welcome students back, or for our new Gators, to Gainesville. I sincerely thank you for all you have done to make this fall semester not only possible, but also an opportunity for our student community to have an excellent experience.
With that in mind, in the last week we shifted the location of some of our offices to maximize access and more optimally connect resources for our students. The Machen Florida Opportunity Scholar Program will now be located in the Reitz Union neighborhood on Level 2 in the Brown Center for Leadership & Service, and Student Philanthropy & Alumni Relations will be in the heart of Student Activities & Involvement on Level 3 of the union.
As we move closer to the start of classes and students begin to fill the roads around town, I am certain there are lingering questions you may have. I strongly encourage you to watch the latest townhalls – one focused on ensuring a safer and healthier campus environment hosted by HR and the other on what students should expect this fall, which was hosted by BSU and HELO.
This is our first fall semester living with COVID-19, and we will quickly discover more questions that need answers. And when we do, I am confident in our team’s ability to work collaboratively and collectively to find solutions.
There is a lot happening over the next few weeks, and this is the time for ‘all hands on deck,’ to pitch in to support one another. I will be volunteering, and I strongly encourage you to join me by signing up.
I am fortunate to work with such a talented team, and I know you all will continue to shine bright for our students and each other.
